With San Diego Comic Con looming on the horizon like a Death Star stalking Alderaan, it’s not doubt that Disney plans on unleashing some tidbits on Star Wars: Episode VII. That being said, I think they’ll end up saving most of the really good stuff for their D23 Expo.
Held at the Anaheim Convention Center from Aug. 9-11, 2013, D23 focuses on many of Disney‘s properties, and with them acquiring LucasFilm last year; there’s no doubt they’ll want to give fans something to be excited about with Episode VII.
Official press write-up from Disney:
-Star Wars at D23 Expo! – For the first time at the D23 Expo Star Wars fans can have access to experiences created for them by Lucasfilm and Disney. Darth Vader: The Evolution of a Villain, located in the DCP pavilion, showcases the development of the iconic villain from early concepts to striking realization. Crash Course in the Force: Star Wars Saga 101, presented by Lucasfilm’s resident authority Pablo Hidalgo in Stage 23, will give Star Wars newbies and experts alike a thorough grounding in all matters of the Force and the Star Wars legacy.
Now, we don’t read anything official about Episode VII, but with J. J. Abrams beginning to shoot next year, I think we can expect some big news.
What I’m hoping to hear:
– The Title for Episode VII
Not that it really mean much. Remember trying to figure out what ‘The Phantom Menace’ meant before Episode I? Or even, what did A New Hope mean back in ’77?
– Confirmed Casting News
OFFICIALLY tell us that Ford, Hamill, and Fisher are on the roster. Tell us all the kids who are announced as newbies, and possibly bring in some other old faces like Billy D and Peter Mayhew.
– Possibly the plot of the film
This could be held off still, but it would be pretty cool.
Guess we’ll just have to see what happens in the next month with Comic Con and D23, but it’s VERY excited times to be a Star Wars fan! Stay Tuned here for Star Wars Sundays on the next big Star Wars news here at DFAT!
