Many predicted that by the end of Star Wars: The Clone Wars we would see the death of Ahsoka Tano, Anakin‘s padawan and friend for the past 5 years of this great television show. Yesterday’s season 5 finale, The Wrong Jedi, is a very strong episode that ends with (Warning: SPOILAGE Ahead) Ahsoka decides to part ways with the Jedi Order, who basically abandoned her in a great time of need. You see they expelled Ahsoka from the order so that she could have a “proper” trial by the Republic! If this was the last episode of the show, and what tied the series to Episode 3 was the 2nd part of the Clone Wars series by Genndy Tartakovsky, aka the best in the Clone Wars genre, I would be totally OK with that. I think that an open-ending to this series is most appropriate because we know what the next chapter is, why try and give something that we already knows how it turns out, a “clean” ending. What I like most about this is that it creates new possibilities of the return of Ahsoka Tano in other future stories, and the opportunity to continue the merchandising, especially on the Ashley Eckstein end of the spectrum…did you think that she was going to let her bread and butter go? Check out Eckstein’s site HerUniverse.com to check out how geekly this chick is, gotta love it. Anywho, with news that The Clone Wars would most likely depart ways with Cartoon Network, perhaps now is the time to end the show, but with season 6 on the way and with the probability it’ll end up on Disney XD, who knows what tales will be spun before the fall of the Jedi? I know that The Wrong Jedi is a mark in Star Wars history that should sit in canon. I thought the abandonment by every Jedi, except Anakin, was a compelling plotline and it plays in very well with the mythos, especially this time period. Overall a great season this year, the Darth Maul and Madalorian episodes were my favorite! This show still makes me question what age group they are targeting, as this show has some heavy themes most weeks, an orientation that I am appreciative of, being a SW fan who wanted this show to make it happen. The Clone Wars Season 5 was my favorite so far.
May the Force be with you 😛
