The Turtles are planning to raid Shredder’s lair and get a brainworm from Stockman’s lab and find a way to save Karai, but things don’t go as planned when a giant monster terrorizes New York City.
Shredder is desperate enough to save Karai that he would perform new experiments on her to save her life. She is strapped to a table with some sort of metallic helmet that resembles one of Stockman’s robotic mice. I’m not sure what he is doing but I know it isn’t good. He puts Beebop and Rocksteady in charge of keeping her safe from any Turtle attack…..bad idea.
Back at the Turtle’s lair, Donnie brings out his new invention that will help the Turtles sneak into Shredder’s lair with stealth. He calls it the Mark X-1 Experimental All-Terrain Urban Stealth Vehicle. In laments term, it is dumpster with a toilet attachment. Strangely enough it works; they are able to reach Shredder unnoticed. The defensive weapons are crude but effective against the Foot Clan: Sausage Cannons, Head Squirting Water hose, and a Spring Activated Boxing Glove with spikes.
They are able to get inside the lair, but are stopped by Shredder’s goons ( Beebop, Rocksteady, Tigerclaw, and the Shredder Mutants). The Turtles are able to fight their way out, but were unable to retrieve a brainworm. Back at the Turtle’s lair, Splinter prohibits them from going on any further missions until Raph’s sprain leg is healed. Mikey and Leo disobeys their master and heads out alone. They are able to again reach and infiltrate Shredder’s lair, but are again stopped by Beebop and Rocksteady. This time they decide to have some fun with the Turtles. They decide to mutate Mikey and Leo together, but their overconfidence gets in the way when the pool of mutagen changes the stuff they added to the mix. A mutated mutant Shredder grows and starts terrorizing the city. It is like a big worm with Shredder like body parts dangling over it. Mikey and Leo try to fight it, but Mikey gets sucked into the mutated Shredder. Leo is about to be eaten when the Turtle Mech appears. Raph, Donnie, April, and Casey work the Turtle Mech but are having little luck slowing it down. Mikey is still alive inside the Mega Shredder monster. He fights the creatures that are inside the mutated monster and is also having no luck defeating it.
Donnie discovers that the tongue on this monster is actually the brain and concentrates all their power to kill the tongue. They are able to sever the tongue, while Micky escapes the monster from its mouth. Donnie fires a toxic drum into the monsters mouth and destroys the monster from the inside.
After all that destruction, Leo is able to get a hand on a brainworm after all. Score one for the Turtles. On the other hand Shredder is not happy with Beebop and Rocksteady and their continuing failures, he allows Tigerclaw to teach them a lesson in pain.
This episode definitely is a fun one with outrageous giant monsters, new and disgusting inventions built by Donnie, and their continuing mission to save Leo’s girlfriend.
