This week the Turtles battle a familiar foe they once defeated when they were in the countryside at April’s farmhouse. Donnie’s experiment with the brain worm solution has an unusual side effect when it spills on him.
Donnie is hard at work trying to find a way to cure Karai by synthesizing an antidote to the brain worms control over her. Unfortunately, Mikey crashes into his lab and spills some of the mutagen and the brain worm’s solution together and getting some of the stuff on Donnie as well. A mutated transformation begins that result in resurrecting The Creep, a mutagen monster that the Turtles encountered back in the countryside. It has the ability to absorb mutagen from other creatures and make it stronger. The Creep grabs a Snakeweed Claw and fights its way out of the sewers. The Turtles chase after it. Unfortunately, Donnie is not himself. The brain worm liquid that touched him is sapping his mind, more specifically his intelligence. He stays behind with April. Mikey feels responsible for Donnie’s situation, the destruction of the lab, and the resurrection of The Creep. He wants to make it right, but his brothers fear that he will only make things worse.
The battle with The Creep is not going well, and to make matters worse, it recreates Snakeweed, another of the Turtles first adversaries. The Turtles now have to fight two mutagenic creatures and the only Turtle capable enough to reverse the mutagenic compound in The Creep and Snakeweed is turning into a complete moron. The Creep uses his ability to put everyone in New York to sleep while he feeds. It even joins together Snakeweed to become Creepweed (Mikey dubbed it).
Mikey decides to take matters into his own hands and make an antidote to help counteract the effects of the brain worm solution that is causing Donnie to lose his mind. At first, it doesn’t seem to be working, but after a short while the antidote cures Donnie and he comes up with a way to reverse The Creepweed.
Again Mikey proves once again that he is smarter than he looks and is able to save his brothers. Still his brothers give him a hard time about being reckless and clumsy. Out of all the Turtles I find Mikey the strongest and courageous, but I don’t think his brother will ever take him seriously, even when he gets them out of trouble.
