Cigarette smoke filled the room like a pool, every step made the cloud swirl and waft in big waves. Davy watched the ripples from underneath on the couch. His feet were propped up on the amp of his bassist. The bassist was currently talking in hushed tones with the sound engineer. They were in a disagreement of some sort. Davy hated tension before shows.
“Hey, Joe.” The two stopped talking and looked over.
“Do what he wants, good lord, it’s only the first show.” The sound engineer frowned.
“I’ll make it up to you tonight.” His frown changed quickly to a blush as he spun out of the room.
Sampson, the bassist, walked over smiling slyly.
“You have quite the silver tongue.”
Davy stuck out his tongue, feigning like he was looking down at it.
“Pink as ever.”
Damage #1 (DC)
Robert Venditti (W) Tony S. Daniel (A)
The first of the NEW AGE OF HEROES that DC has been advertising. Am I the only one who thinks these books bear a remarkable resemblance to the Marvelous Competition?
Ice Cream Man #1 (Image)
W. Maxwell Prince (W) Martin Morazzo (A)
A lot of number ones from Image this week I’m excited for. I remember reading a little preview of this one and it seemed strange and promising. That’s always good.
The Further Adventures of Nick Wilson #1 (Image)
Marc Andreyko/Eddie Gorodetsky (W) Steve Sadowski (A)
This comic comes with the praise of a lot of people I respect. That should be enough for you, because you respect me too, right? Right?
Days of Hate #1 (Image)
Ales Kot (W) Danijel Zezelj (A)
I am a big fan of Ales Kot. I think I’ve made that apparent with everything he’s been releasing. I am really excited for this one. It looks like it may be a spiritual successor to his Material series. I would very much enjoy that.
The Avengers #676 (Marvel)
Mark Waid/Al Ewing/Jim Zub (W) Pepe Larraz (A)
So, the first issue of this new weekly thing was actually really good. I’m only really sticking it up here at the top because of the weekly issue. I mean, I can enjoy a good story twice weekly too. Just saying.
Jenny Finn #3 (Dark Horse)
Troy Nixey/Mike Mignola (W) Troy Nixey (A)
This week is full of great titles. This is definitely one of those. It’s high on the list just because I know it’s a reprint of a series I missed out on the first time. You know, like a dumbass.
Evolution #3 (Image)
James Asmus/Joshua Williamson/Christopher Sebela/Joseph Keatinge (W) Joe Infurnari (A)
Holy shit is this series promising. Why didn’t you put #2 on your list when it came out, you ask. I forget things too. It may seem hard to believe but I am fallible.
Rumble #2 (Image)
John Arcudi (W) David Rubin (A)
I am really excited that this series is back, and you know what? Rubin fuuuuucking kills it on this comic. I really love what he’s doing.
The Mighty Thor #703 (Marvel)
Jason Aaron (W) Russell Dauterman (A)
I think this is one of the strongest arcs this book has had. Which means things are probably ending soon. Fuck.
Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #299 (Marvel)
Chip Zdarsky (W) Adam Kubert/Juan Feigeri (A)
I am really happy about this series. It’s fucking fantastic and everything I want in a Spider-Man title. Get into it.
Jimmy’s Bastards #6 (Aftershock)
Garth Ennis (W) Russell Braun (A)
Yeah, this is the third week this has been solicited. So, yeah.
Doctor Strange #384 (Marvel)
Donny Cates (W) Gabriel Hernandez Walta (A)
Holy hell, this series has been one huuuge reveal after another. My boy Donny knows how to write some good ass funny books.
Justice League #37 (DC)
Christopher Priest (W) Pete Woods (A)
This series is incredible. It’s doing some pretty well-tread stuff in this book, but even so, it’s fresh and interesting every issue. The art really blows me away. It’s so clean and wonderful. Read this series.
Copperhead #18 (Image)
Jay Faerber (W) Drew Moss (A)
This has been the best arc yet. Hopefully, now that they are back to a normal schedule, we’ll be seeing a lot more of this one soon.
Batman #39 (DC)
Tom King (W) Joëlle Jones (A)
You didn’t forget about Diana did you? After winning over Lois and Clark, now they have to go after the daughter of a God. This will be something interesting.
Kill or Be Killed #15 (Image)
Ed Brubaker (W) Sean Phillips (A)
Welcome to Hotel California?
The pounding of bass, and the roar of the crowd was deafening. A wall of sound that wrapped around the entire stadium. Love from the hearts of strangers, filling the empty void of an emotion junkies head. Davy smiled anyway. That’s when everyone stopped. All at once everything ceased to move, to make noise, to look like anything but a statue. That’s when the winged people came from the sky. That’s when Davy realized he had really fucked up his plan to stay inconspicuous.
