He packed his gear before he headed into the city. It was the same checklist he did every day. Knife, gun, flare, water, rope, blanket, hatchet. He prayed that nothing would come of the weapons, but he was never really sure what might lie around the next corner. Not even after fifteen years. Not even knowing the city like the back of his hand. The muscles in his throat tensed as he exhaled a cloud of steam into the frigid morning air.
Hawkeye #11 (Marvel)
Kelly Thompson (W) Leonardo Romero (A)
Love me some Madame Masque. Time for the showdown we’ve been waiting for? Yes, I am questioning that.
Iron Fist #73 (Marvel)
Ed Brisson (W) Mike Perkins (A)
Second wave of Legacy issues is here. This is a really weird match up. I know it’s historic and all that, but still. Wouldn’t have thought of this.
Black Bolt #6 (Marvel)
Saladin Ahmed (W) Christian Ward (A)
I am a fucking sucker for Ward’s work. Seriously, it’s absolutely gorgeous. Plus it doesn’t hurt that Ahmed is fucking knocking this story out of the park. It’s an awesome book and you need to be reading it.
Old Man Logan #29 (Marvel)
Ed Brisson (W) Mike Deodato (A)
I am really loving what Brisson is doing with this series. It’s smart, raw, and gorgeous. I think that last part is due to Deodato, but you know what I mean.
Astonishing X-Men #4 (Marvel)
Charles Soule (W) Carlos Pacheco (A)
I haven’t enjoyed an X-men series like this since I was a kid. I mean, that’s not saying a whole lot, I know, but it’s true none the less.
Avengers #672 (Marvel)
Mark Waid (W) Jesus Siaz (A)
The battle of the ages is upon us. Who will blink first. Knock down, drag out brawl. Other fighting cliches. You get the picture.
Batman: The Dawnbreaker #1 (DC)
Sam Humphries (W) Ethan Van Sciver (A)
This is the week for Batman, which is weird because Batman day was a week ago. Whatever. I am really loving these little tie in issues. They are dark as all fuck.
Green Arrow #32 (DC)
Ben Percy (W) Juan Ferreyra (A)
This is part two of the Batman tie ins, as it’s the Metal tie in. Yeah, even Green Arrow is Batman this week, which is weird unless you write for Arrow, in which case, Green Arrow is always Batman. Yeah, I said it. Fight me.
Jessica Jones #13 (Marvel)
Brian Michael Bendis (W) Michael Gaydos (A)
The character that made me love Jessica in Alias was her mortal enemy. The Purple Man is a fucking fucker. I love it. It’s soul crushing, and you know how I feel about that. Anyway, somehow he’s back. I thought he just died in Daredevil. I’m confused. Comics!
Regression #5 (Image)
Cullen Bunn (W) Danny Luckert (A)
God Dammit. I have to rethink my entire reality after reading this book. It’s so fucked up, I can’t stand it, but I totally can because it’s a good book and why aren’t you reading it stopreadingthisandreadthatbook
All Star Batman #14 (DC)
Scott Snyder (W) Rafael Albuquerque (A)
The last issue of All Star Batman and the third Batman book on my list. This series is fucking great. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first arc, but it had amazing moments, and every issue after has tugged on my heart. Alfred is the real hero.
Paper Girls #16 (Image)
Brian K. Vaughan (W) Cliff Chang (A)
Oh, man. 2000 called and they want their joke that was already old in 2000 back. Anyway. 80’s kids in 2000. That’s gonna be awesome.
Manifest Destiny #31 (Image)
Chris Dingess (W) Matthew Roberts (A)
It hurts my heart to say this but I think this series is wrapping up soon. From an earlier issue, it looks like the Spaniard only shows up when they get close to the coast. Which means they’re journey is coming to a close. SAD FACE.
Batman #32 (DC)
Tom King (W) Mikel Janin (A)
Batman comic number four for the week and I’m not even done. WE GET THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION! FINALLY. I MAY HAVE HAD IT SPOILED FOR ME, BUT I’M STILL SUPER EXCITED ABOUT IT.
Batman: White Knight #1 (of 7) (DC)
Sean Murphy (W/A)
FIVE BATMAN COMICS AND THE FIFTH ONE IS BY ONE OF MY FAVORITE CREATORS OF ALL TIME. IF YOU HAVEN’T READ PUNK ROCK JESUS YOU ARE DOING YOURSELF A GREAT DISSERVICE. Enough caps now. It’s gonna be great.
So far he was nine miles into the journey and there hadn’t been even a sign of the Red Noses. Not particularly surprising, as it was mid day and they enjoyed basking in the moonlight, but still a welcome relief. Occasionally, one might stalk into the sun just to remember what it was like. He was feeling the sun on his face when he heard the honk of a horn. Somehow it had managed to go unnoticed. It stood in a white and red polka dot suit, large black shoes, white gloves and a mask of red black and white. In its right hand was a comically large rubber chicken. Slowly the white hand squeezed the neck and another shrill scream escaped the chickens mouth. That’s when he heard the giggling coming from the buildings around him.
