Don’t you just feel old sometimes? I mean we’ve already entered into year two of our relationship and I don’t even know your name. I know I can be dense some times, but you really think you would have said anything to me by now. I mean I’ve been living in your house for a whole year now, which was a quick move I know, and I’ve never even seen you eat. Weird. Top of the Stack.

old man logan 5

Old Man Logan #5 (Marvel)

Brian Michael Bendis (W) Andrea Sorrentino (A)

The last issue of this comic was pretty okay. That being said, the issue before that was a real letdown. Hopefully they manage to wrap this up before it starts to stink.

Batman and Robin Eternal #1 (DC)

James Tynion IV (W) Tony Daniel (A)

Hey, remember that whole thing that DC did about a year and some change ago. You know, where they had three series that ran every single week for a year. Well, welcome to the sequel to the only one that actually survived the first year. I am excited for this series, but I’m worried about the whole “stagnant issues” thing that Batman Eternal had. It seems as if they may iron that out this time by only making this run last half a year. 36 issues? I’m in.

8house: Yorris #4 (Image)

Helen Maier (W) Fil Barlow (A)

To those who pay attention, you will see that this is the third subtitle this series has had in four issues. This is because this comic is weird. Like in a groundbreaking sorta way. These comics take place in the same universe, but each writer gets to build their own section. The first story was two issues, Arclight, while the second, Kiem, was a one shot. I think this could make for a really cool collaborative universe.

BSRB_007_COVER-A_SUAYAN

Bloodshot Reborn #7 (Valiant)

Jeff Lemire (W) Butch Guice (A)

This series always knows how to kick some serious ass. I mean really. They got rid of his hallucinations and the bit about holding onto his humanity, and in return we get to watch two people fall in love and then lose themselves. Nothing like some tragedy to stir the pot.

DAAAYUM. Finally. What is with comics and delays right before the final issue in the arc? I mean jeezy creezy, way to build up my tension. Either way, I’m sure there is a fine reason, and I’m just glad it’s back on my pull list. All is forgiven.

doctor strange 1

Doctor Strange #1 (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) Chris Bachalo (A)

Man, I have been waiting for this comic to come out since the day they teased it. Not to mention it has one of the most badass teams tackling an equally badass character. I am also very interested in getting a glimpse at the Marvel Universe post-Secret Wars, plus why the hell does Doctor Strange have a big ass axe?

miracleman 3

Miracleman By Gaiman and Buckingham #3 (Marvel)

Neil Gaiman (W) Mark Buckingham (A)

A story featuring Miracleman’s evil scientist creator, Dr. Gargunza, as well as Andy Warhol. I mean I get that Andy Warhol is strange, but does everyone have to call him an alien? Maybe they have a point. You have my attention.

There’s a holiday comic up soon. I swear, I just can’t remember what it is. I think it’s some sort of Christianized Pagan holiday, but aren’t they all now-a-days? Oh, dear, what’s the one? Hallows eve? HALLOWEEN! That’s it. Well, this issue is a Halloween issue. Fitting.

PaperGirls_01-1

Paper Girls #1 (Image)

Brian K. Vaughan (W) Cliff Chaing

This is another series that I have been waiting to read for quite a long time. You know that comic that is next on the list? Well, I actually think it’s similar to that. Similar in premise only I imagine as Jeff Lemire and BKV are both wonderfully different and talented writers. The comic follows a group of paper girls who stumble across something not from this world that changes their lives.

Plutona #2 (Image)

Jeff Lemire (W) Emi Lenox (A)

As I just said. Similar ideas, different comics. A group of kids finds the body of a superhero in the woods and it promises to change them forever. Great minds think alike. So far this comic has had an amazing first issue and I am extremely eager to get the next.

Secret Wars #6 of 8 (Marvel)

Jonathan Hickman (W) Esad Ribic (A)

After three delays, we are finally getting our sixth issue and a promised “final battle”. What does that mean? I have no idea and neither do you. Unless you have a hunch, in which case you could be right.

WeStandOnGuard_04-1_362_557_s_c1

We Stand On Guard #4 (Image)

Brian K. Vaughan (W) Steve Skroce (A)

This series is fantastic. The torture scene in the last issue managed to go from slightly funny to absolutely mortifying. BKV’s handle of the form is fantastic. Meanwhile Skroce captures every detail like someone whose mind what done and knowed the future. Great book, you need read now.

Southern Bastards #11 (Image)

Jason Aaron (W) Jason Latour (A)

The return of one of my favorite, gritty, low-down, dirty comics. This thing is a southern masterpiece. I mean I know all of these characters in some form. I’ve met them all. This is the south under a magnifying glass and that filthy fuck isn’t very pleasant.

There we go. Some more comic babies to begin to nurture. I may have to throw them out on the street eventually, but for now lets play house. Nothing wrong with that, right? Stay smart.
