Blood dripped from his lips, his mind active but behind the glass wall his eyes made. Fire was in front of him, but his eyes wouldn’t focus so he couldn’t tell whether it was near or far. The ringing in his ears was loud but he could make out determined yelling around him. The taste of alcohol was still on his tongue, swirling with the blood that filled his mouth.
The Beef #1 (Image)
Richard Starkings/Tyler Shainline (W) Shaky Kane (A)
This is a weird one. Honestly, I’m just in it for the art right now. I’m a big fan of Shaky Kane and you should be too.
Doctor Star and the Kingdom of Lost Tomorrows #1 (Dark Horse)
Jeff Lemire (W) Max Fiumara (A)
Yet another spin off from Black Hammer. I’m really digging these little mini stories within the world. Adds a lot of interesting texture to the main comic.
Avengers #682 (Marvel)
Mark Waid/Al Ewing/Jim Zub (W) Kim Jacinto/Sean Izaakse (A)
I’m more and more hype as this story goes on, It’s solid, interesting, and worth your time. Still not a big fan of the weekly thing, but it gets a pass.
Invincible Iron Man #597 (Marvel)
Brian Michael Bendis (W) Stefano Caselli/Alex Maleev (A)
Come on. Fucking do something Bendis. This series is just a whole lot of waiting. Get to it.
Champions #17 (Marvel)
Mark Waid (W) Humberto Ramos (A)
I probably won’t be reading this book for much longer. In two issues Waid leaves, and Zub joins the team. I’ll see then if I stick around.
The Silencer #2 (DC)
Dan Abnett (W) John Romita JR. (A)
First issue was interesting, that’s promising. Hopefully it keeps on, Abnett is known for some solid writing, so I imagine I’ll be on board for a while.
Black Panther #170 (Marvel)
Ta-Nehisi Coates (W) Leonard Kirk (A)
I have a weird feeling that this book is going to get renumbered… Okay I just checked. It totally is. I mean, at least we get a new arc?
Wonder Woman #41 (DC)
James Robinson (W) Carlo Pagulayan (A)
Not sure how this new arc is going to go. I’m hopeful.
Legion #2 (Marvel)
Peter Milligan (W) Wilfredo Torres (A)
First issue was really fun. I love what they are doing with the character. Bring me more.
Detective Comics #975 (DC)
James Tynion IV (W) Raul Fernandez/Alvaro Martinez (A)
Why Kate? I am a little upset that the decision Kate makes in the last issue wasn’t really honest with her character and where she is development wise, but that being said, this book is fantastic.
X-O Manowar #12 (Valiant)
Matt Kindt (W) Ryan Bodenheim (A)
Gorgeous art, New direction, same happy reader.
Jessica Jones #17 (Marvel)
Brian Michael Bendis (W) Michael Gaydos (A)
Only two more issues until the new team is on board. That being said, they haven’t announced the new team in the newest solicitation. That’s confusing.
Moon Knight #192 (Marvel)
Max Bemis (W) Jacen Burrows (A)
I love this series so much. It has been a nutso trip so far. It’s fun, and energetic, smooth, and creamy, warm, and violent. Just how I like my coffee.
Void Trip #4 (Image)
Ryan O’Sullivan (W) Plaid Klaus (A)
This series is hysterical. If you’re late to the party, pick this one up in trade cause it’s just about over. Only two more issues. Sad face emoji.
Doctor Strange #386 (Marvel)
Donny Cates (W) Nico Henrichon (A)
A tie in with the event that is kinda not an event, but a spin off book/epilogue to Secret Empire which I didn’t read. Damnation was great so I can only assume this will be good too. Tada. The magic that is deduction.
Thanos #16 (Marvel)
Donny Cates (W) Geoff Shaw (A)
Holy hell, good luck trying to find last month’s issue. They revealed the identity of the cosmic Ghost Rider and the price of the book skyrocketed. I got me a copy though. Only had to attack four disabled veterans with infants on their laps. The price of fandom.
Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #300 (Marvel)
Chip Zdarsky (W) Adam Kubert (A)
This Spider-Man series is definitely competing for my favorite Spider-Man series of all time, and that title means competing with massive levels of nostalgic nativity. So take that as you will.
Days of Hate #2 (Image)
Ales Kot (W) Danijel Zezelj (A)
This book is going to get really fucking intense. I can feel it in my bones.
Redneck #10 (Image)
Donny Cates (W) Lisandro Estherren (A)
This book is already really fucking intense and I don’t gotta feel shit cause I done seent it with my peepers. Cates is a superstar walking.
Saga #49 (Image)
Brian K. Vaughan (W) Fiona Staples (A)
Solicitation and cover taking a jab at our Commander in Chief. I’m in.
Royal City #10 (Image)
Jeff Lemire (W) Dustin Nguyen (A)
Last issue of the arc and the last issue until May 30th. That’s like three whole months. I have a feeling this issue is going to have enough sad to tide me over.
A woman grabbed his shoulder, embracing him in a strong hug. His daze faded when he thought to the child he had been carrying before the explosion. That was when he saw them lying on the ground near a cop car. Her eyes were open. He smiled before unconsciousness gripped him just as hard as the woman.
