The Molotov cocktail crashed against the pavement, way too close for comfort. Jessie swerved her bike away from the flames, I had no choice but to ride right through the center. I yelled against the rushing air for her. My voice never touched her ears. The bike shook to a stop, the sound of flailing rubber getting louder as I veered off the road.

VS #1 (Image)

Ivan Brandon (W) Esad Ribic (A)

I don’t know how I feel about this series yet. It looks gorgeous, but personally, Ivan Brandon is a mixed bag for me. I enjoyed Black Cloud for an arc, didn’t like Drifter. We’ll see.

Avengers #679 (Marvel)

Mark Waid/Jim Zub/Al Ewing (W) Kim Jacinto (A)

There is no way they are going through with the death in the last issue. There just isn’t any way. That being said, I’m now grateful this is weekly.

Iron Fist #77 (Marvel)

Ed Brisson (W) Mike Perkins (A)

Wrapping up the arc, and then a tie in to a book I’m probably not going to pick up, but will probably ultimately pick it up because I’m weak.

Black Bolt #10 (Marvel)

Saladin Ahmed (W) Christian Ward (A)

I love this series, but if the first arc is any indication, I think some of the most interesting stuff you can do with this character right now is when you keep him away from the other Inhumans. That being said, the last few issues have been incredible.

Hawkeye #15 (Marvel)

Kelly Thompson (W) Leonardo Romero (A)

Well, Clint went and fucked everything up. Surprise.

Green Arrow #37 (DC)

Benjamin Percy (W) Juan Ferreyra (A)

An interlude in the arc, some more insight on Emiko, maybe a heartbreaking story. Who knows. All I know is I hope bad things don’t happen.

No. 1 With a Bullet #4 (Image)

Jacob Semahn (W) Jorge Corona (A)

This is a very relevant book. It’s a fantastic look into the world of personal privacy and the intrusion of the future’s technology. It’s heartbreaking, it’s important.

Batman: White Knight #5 (DC)

Sean Murphy (W/A)

Strange is a good word to describe this series. There are basic things about the plot I don’t agree with, but I love the art and there are some really cool ideas in there. Not sure how this will pan out.

Runaways #6 (Marvel)

Rainbow Rowell (W) Kris Anka (A)

I love this book. I don’t know how I fell behind. It’s a breath of fresh air that I didn’t know I needed. Check out the first arc now.

Daredevil #598 (Marvel)

Charles Soule (W) Ron Garney (A)

So happy that this psychopath is back. I really loved his arc and I’ve been eagerly awaiting his return. Probably my favorite newly created villains of the past five years.

Justice League #38 (DC)

Christopher Priest (W) Marco Santucci (A)

This arc has been incredible. This book did a 180. I’m really excited about the future of this series.

Dastardly & Muttley #6 (DC)

Garth Ennis (W) Mauricet (A)

I am kinda sad that this book is coming to an end, but entirely grateful that I got the chance to read it. If you’re one of them slowpokes, I’m sure you can scoop this in trade soon.

The Gravediggers Union #4 (Image)

Wes Craig (W) Toby Cypress (A)

The insanity that oozes from this book is impressive. I just love the scope of the world and the more I learn about it, the deeper my love grows. Solid book, so glad I picked it up.

Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles #2 (DC)

Mark Russell/Brandee Stilwell (W) Gus Vasquez/Mike Feehan (A)

HOLY SHIT. The first issue of this book was mind blowingly good. It was everything I wanted from the book and a whole trove of shit I had no idea I wanted. Get on this fast.

Paper Girls #20 (Image)

Brian K. Vaughan (W) Cliff Chang (A)

Things are only picking up with this book. I’ve loved it from day one, but these days I think I love it just a little more.

Batman #40 (DC)

Tom King (W) Joëlle Jones (A)

OH SHIT. BATMAN IS ABOUT TO MAKE A MISTAKE. SURPRISE.

Swamp Thing Winter Special #1 (DC)

Len Wein/Tom King (W) Kelley Jones/Jason Fabok (A)

I look at this line up, and I look at the title of the book, and I know I’m gonna cry. Sometimes you just know yourself well enough to anticipate things like this. I’m totally crying when I read this.

I was able to dodge the bikes that rode up but I had to lay down my bike to get away from the road. There were only a couple minutes until they turned around to take out the weaker target. It’s hard not to look back when death is chasing you with steel and gasoline. The engine was getting louder. I could hear the whoops and screams of my end. Then, the sound of a gunshot and the crunch of metal. Then nothing. Nothing but a familiar 1200c engine purring slowly behind me.
