The waves lapped the sand passively. The cool colors of the moon and stars danced across cresting waters. It was that time of year again where the air was especially clear, the time of year when you felt you could smell things further, or at least noticed life differently. The common bumping of music in the distance helped Alesha keep beat with her steps. The air felt dangerous, like at a moments notice everything could change. Some part of her mind wanted to curl up inside of her own body and wait for the comfort of the morning sun. She walked against the oceans breath instead.
Hawkeye #4 (Marvel)
Kelly Thompson (W )Leonardo Romero (A)
This series has been solid through and through. I also really dig the monthly comic thing. Too many creators are pumping out too much. I can’t handle it. Can we go back to once a month please?
Green Arrow #18 (DC)
Ben Percy (W) Eleonora Carlini (A)
The two archers duke it out for the top spot this week, well, actually bottom spot, but I’m not judging. This issue protege and master team up again. They also probably yell at each other about stuff, but what relationship doesn’t have some issues? No pun intended.
Avengers #5 (Marvel)
Mark Waid (W) Mike Del Mundo (A)
This series has started with a bang. In the first arc alone, I think Waid has accomplished more than he did with the entire previous run of Avengers. You know, the one he also did. It’s almost as if *GASP* he planned this all along!
Champions #6 (Marvel)
Mark Waid (W) Humberto Ramos (A)
This series still beats out Avengers in my mind. It’s such a good young team book. Seriously, this team is killing it. Sending strong messages too, I mean the last issue was all about corrupt law enforcement turning a blind eye to acts of racism in their community. Pretty hefty stuff.
Moon Knight #12 (Marvel)
Jeff Lemire (W) Greg Smallwood (A)
Smallwood kills this comic dead. Kills it dead hard. Seriously how much gooder can you do your formatting? His pages are all works of art. Dig this shit.
Doctor Strange #18 (Marvel)
Jason Aaron (W) Frazer Irving (A)
Hey, it’s the crossover that no one saw coming. Unless you saw the Doctor Strange movie or something, but I mean come on, what are you, some sort of fucking nerd? Get outta here. Thor helps Doctor Strange punch Misery. Metaphors beware.
Batman #18 (DC)
Tom King (W) David Finch (A)
Holy shit. I think we may be getting Knightfall pt.2 in this bitch. All the pieces are there, shit is about to get real for the Bat family.
Paper Girls #12 (Image)
Brian K. Vaughan (W) Cliff Chang (A)
I love this comic. You should too. In the words of my good friend. “I have no idea what’s going on but I love it.”
Nailbiter #30 (Image)
Joshua Williamson (W) Mike Henderson (A)
Very sad to see this one leave, but also very excited to read the last issue. I am a whirlpool of emotion right now.
She walked past the monuments build to the tourists, the cheesy shacks with neon lights, the thirty story beach-front hotels. The bars, ice cream parlors, and teenagers on break were all behind her. Ahead was the untamed living. The people who stayed on the beach. The strangers who smelled of alcohol and sweat. People all trying to escape from something, just as she was. The salt water whispered to her, this had always been home. Where is paradise when you live in a postcard?
