The last finger was tossed in the trash bag. The bag was manufactured to emit the slightest scent of vanilla. Jessup had heard that vanilla was a strong aphrodisiac for men. He couldn’t say he was turned on, not by the scent of the trash bag, nor by the primal violence he just cleaned up. It was more a sense of raw energy, not at all sexual. Jessup thought about ways to remove blood from his curtains.
War of the Realms #1 (of 6) (Marvel)
Jason Aaron (W) Russell Dauterman (A)
This is the major event that the entire Aaron run on Thor has led to. If you’ve read the whole run, you know this is a long time coming, and dammit, it better be fucking awesome.
Curse Words: Spring has Sprung Special #1 (Image)
Charles Soule (W) Mike Norton (A)
I think I said I was going to stop reading this comic. I lied…
Lodger #4 (Black Crown)
David Lapham/Maria Lapham (W) David Lapham (A)
This book is fucking weird. I like it, but man, the people in it are really deplorable and that’s what makes it so damn interesting.
Red Sonja #3 (Dynamite)
Mark Russell (W) Mirko Colak (A)
I’m not sure if I’m sold on this book yet. It’s good, and I had a crazy migraine the last time I read it, so that may have skewed my objectivity, but I know this team is great, it’s just taking time for me to adjust.
The Punisher #10 (Marvel)
Matthew Rosenberg (W) Szymon Kudranski (A)
Okay, so the country of criminals was cool, but like, you have to do something a little more for me. There was a lot of cool jail break stuff last issue. The action was incredible, I just feel like the big concept isn’t getting explored enough.
Captain America #9 (Marvel)
Ta-Nehisi Coates (W) Adam Kubert (A)
Evil Cap is back? Maybe a little uglier now? That’s good, no more getting the Nazi confused with the symbol of America.
Conan the Barbarian #5 (Marvel)
Jason Aaron (W) Mahmud Asrar (A)
I love how this story is jumping throughout the Conan mythology. We get a little King Conan, a little young Conan, a little in between. Reminds me of Aaron’s Thor run actually. Weird.
The Girl in The Bay #3 (of 4) (Berger Books)
J.M. DeMatteis (W) Corin Howell (A)
This book is fucking dark. Like, way darker than I was led to believe. Does that mean I understand it? No. I really don’t. I’m getting used to that though.
Justice League #21 (DC)
Scott Snyder (W) Jorge Jimenez (A)
FUTURE SUPERMAN IS EVIL! WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT! NOW SUPERMAN HAS TO FIGHT SEXY SILVER FOX SUPERMAN FROM THE FUTURE. OH NO!
The Green Lantern #6 (DC)
Grant Morrison (W) Liam Sharp (A)
I haven’t seen Adam Strange since Lemire’s run on Justice League United. It’ll be nice to have the best boy back in action and acting under a Morrison script. It’s gonna be weird.
The Amazing Spider-Man #18.HU (Marvel)
Nick Spencer (W) Ken Lashley (A)
Spider-Man saves the Monkey-Man!
Black Hammer ’45 #2 (of 4) (Dark Horse)
Jeff Lemire/Ray Fawkes (W) Matt Kindt (A)
While I’m not a big fan of the whole “war drama comic” genre. I was expecting this one to divert course. It took a while to get me there, but holy hell did it get me there.
The Immortal Hulk #16 (Marvel)
Al Ewing (W) Joe Bennett (A)
God dammit. Every issue of this book blows me away. If you aren’t reading this book, you are missing a serious monument in the comic book world.
Redlands #12 (Image)
Jordie Bellaire (W) Vanesa R. Del Rey (A)
Man, this book is like having a gorgeous person tell you that a loved one died. It’s really fun to look at but it hurts you.
Paper Girls #27 (Image)
Brian K. Vaughan (W) Cliff Chiang (A)
IT’S ALL ENDING AND I’M SAD ABOUT IT. SOMEONE CONSOLE ME.
There was no sly moment of gratification. No small smile in the mirror as he reminisced about the horror he committed. Those were things from the movies. There was a quiet methodical process, one steeped in a numbed shame. He knew it was wrong, everything he ever saw told him that much, it just didn’t really worry him anymore. He wasn’t one of them, he didn’t deal in the same ways they did. A man on the fringe of morality. Now, that, he liked.
