Sizzling filled his head as he rushed with manic ferocity toward the sink in the corner of the lab. The sickly sweet smell of burning flesh began to fill his nose. Panic began to flood into his fingertips as he clumsily dropped the compound to negate the effects of the acid based concoction searing his skull. For a brief moment he thought that it may be the end, that he would die here on the laboratory floor.

War of the Realms Strikeforce: The Land of Giants #1 (Marvel)

Tom Taylor (W) Jorge Molina (A)

There are so many of these little mini tie ins. It’s hard to decide which ones to actually follow, so I’m gonna follow my heart and right now Tom Taylor has got it.

Venom #14 (Marvel)

Cullen Bunn (W) Iban Coello (A)

This tie in isn’t bad, it’s just a break from the normal creative team and that makes me a little sad. Sue me.

Avengers #19 (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) Ed McGuinness (A)

This series has had issue after issue of amazing stuff. I feel like Aaron is only getting better as the series goes along.

Martian Manhunter #5 (of 12) (DC)

Steve Orlando (W) Riley Rossmo (A)

This series has been wildly unexpected and insanely good. Rossmo’s art lends this flowing morphin energy to the whole piece that oozes style. It’s a must read if you’re a fan of Jon.

War of the Realms: Punisher #2 (of 3) (Marvel)

Gerry Duggan (W) Marcelo Ferreira (A)

This is a fucking wild ride already. I cannot wait for Duggan’s mini series after this.

Bone Parish #9 (of 12) (Boom! Studios)

Cullen Bunn (W) Jonas Scharf (A)

This book is sad. There as an intrinsic sadness to this book, somewhere tucked between the fetishization of lost loved ones, the drug abuse and manipulation of addiction.

Wonder Woman #71 (DC)

Willow Wilson (W) Xermanico (A)

I’ve been absolutely loving this series recently. It was good to start with, but I feel like Wilson really found her stride.

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #6 (Marvel)

Saladin Ahmed (W) Javier Garron (A)

I think Ahmed has an amazing grasp on this character. I genuinely feel the love in this series.

Detective Comics #1004 (DC)

Peter J. Tomasi (W) Brad Walker (A)

I love anti-reveals. That sound like I’m being facetious but I genuinely mean that. Life isn’t just a bunch of soap opera reveals, sometimes shit just doesn’t matter. Or does it?

Justice League Dark #11 (DC)

James Tynion IV (W) Raul Fernandez (A)

Bro, why are the lords of chaos so lame?

Rumble #12 (Image)

John Arcudi (W) David Rubin (A)

After last arc didn’t really amaze me, I’m glad this one is going so damn well. This series has a whole lot of heart.

The Silencer #17 (DC)

Dan Abnett (W) Sandu Florea (A)

It’s the penultimate issue and honestly I’m a little bummed about that. This character has really grown on me and I hope she doesn’t fade into the abyss.

The Terrifics #16 (DC)

Gene Luen Yang (W) Stephen Segovia (A)

I’m loving the new team on this book. It’s a different but in that good way. Not like when mom got married to Jerry.

Tony Stark: Iron Man #11 (Marvel)

Dan Slott/Jim Zub (W) Valerio Schiti (A)

I’m curious as to whether or not Zub is going to be taking the reins of this series soon. I’m not opposed to it really, I just hate change and I know what’s best for nerd culture. Duh.

Assassin Nation #3 (Image)

Kyle Starks (W) Erica Henderson (A)

Fuck, this series is goofy as hell. I love it so much. I was hopeful but this one has blown my expectations out of the water.

Dial H for Hero #3 (of 6) (Wonder Comics)

Sam Humphries (W) Joe Quinones (A)

Humphries is an absolute mad man. I love all the references in this book. I’m great at input.

Invisible Kingdom #3 (Berger Books)

Willow Wilson (W) Christian Ward (A)

This book is going to be a winding and complex story. I can tell that much already, and I am insanely pumped about that.

Runaways #21 (Marvel)

Rainbow Rowell (W) Andres Genolet (A)

This is one of the best books coming out of Marvel right now. If you’re a fan of teen drama and superhero stuff, this is a goldmine.

Redneck #20 (Image)

Donny Cates (W) Lisandro Estherren (A)

Heartbreak is hard to get over, it can take a whole lifetime. Which really sucks if your immortal. I mean seriously. Bummer dude.

Faithless #2 (of 5) (Boom! Studios)

Brian Azzarello (W) Maria Llovet (A)

A sex horror comic. Something I never thought I’d find myself reading let alone falling in love with.

The Goon #2 (Albatross Funnybooks)

Eric Powell (W/A)

Issue one of the creator owned Goon series was the top selling issue in the entire history of the title. That’s fucking amazing. I’m glad you read it.

Finally gathering the courage to run his hands through his hair, he paused. Something was different and it wasn’t what he was expecting. His hair was longer, his scalp unscathed. Running to the counter, he grabbed a pair of cadaver shears and tried to cut the long locks. The shears folded around the hair. He tried again to no avail. Something else was off. He could feel every attempt to cut them like each individual hair was an appendage.
