Jennifer ran over to the inert body of her fiance. Doused in various chemicals, and still smoldering, she could see his chest rising weakly. He was alive for now. She took his pulse and began calling to him. Slowly his eyes opened, but the horror she had anticipated was absent from his gaze. Only understanding shone through his features. There was a sudden spark of electricity. Then another. Then his body was engulfed in a blue-white glow, obscuring his actual body.
American Monster #4 (Aftershock)
Brian Azzarello (W) Juan Doe (A)
I totally missed this one last time, sorry guys. Better believe I was double checking this week. This series is great, but the last issue was a little less than I was hoping for. All said and done, still a good issue.
The Mighty Thor #7 (Marvel)
Jason Aaron (W) Rafa Garres (A)
I love the old viking story they are using for the frame work in this comic right now. It makes the comic dynamic again. A flavor I am sorry to say has been lacking for me recently.
Ms.Marvel #7 (Marvel)
G. Willow Wilson (W) Nico Leon (A)
Oh, great another tie in. Wait a minute, I’m actually reading the event this time. Never mind. I’m excited to see the young members of the Avengers together in their own shindig. We’ll see how that goes.
Afterlife with Archie #9 (Archie Horror)
Roberto Aguirre Sacasa (W) Francesco Francavilla (A)
Jesus H Particular Christ. This series has been MIA almost as long as the Chilling Tales of Sabrina was. It seems they put the petal to the metal for Archie Horror. I was afraid we had lost them to the sands of time.
Bloodshot Reborn #13 (Valiant)
Jeff Lemire (W) Lewis LaRosa (A)
Woo, more future ass kicking. I mean what isn’t to love. This is like Old Man Bloodshot, which is funny seeing as Lemire is writing Old Man Logan too. I wonder if this is at all influenced by that story.
Doctor Strange #8 (Marvel)
Jason Aaron (W) Chris Bachalo (A)
Well, shit hit the fan. Doctor Strange is considerably less strange without his magic. I can’t see this boding well for him.
Daredevil #7 (Marvel)
Charles Soule (W) Ron Garney (A)
What has Matt Murdock done? Seriously, I chalked this whole “nobody remembers my real name” thing up to Secret Wars rebootery, but I think there is something more sinister at play. Cue an ex-lover, seriously pissed off.
Uncanny Inhumans #9 (Marvel)
Charles Soule (W) Brandon Peterson (A)
Ooooh, girl. Johnny and Medusa done got caught. What’s next? EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE INHUMAN THANKSGIVINGS???
Spiderman/Deadpool #5 (Marvel)
Joe Kelly (W) Ed McGuinness (A)
Well, spoilers. Just so you know. Unless this series is over, and Deadpool did kill Peter Parker, I can only imagine it was a big ole kookie mix-up. If not, shit just got real dark.
Divinity II #2 of 4 (Valiant)
Matt Kindt (W) Trevor Hairsine (A)
I thought that they couldn’t extrapolate any more from the original story. I was wrong. Boy howdy, was I wrong. Without spoiling anything: There is another. DUNDUNDUUUUN
East of West #26 (Image)
Jonathan Hickman (W) Nick Dragotta (A)
We are coming to a close on year two (I can only imagine, being as I am person who understands rising action) I feel as if the conclusion to this era is going to be extra bloody. That’s saying a lot for this comic.
Tokyo Ghost #7 (Image)
Rick Remender (W) Sean Murphy (A)
Why is this comic called Tokyo Ghost? Well I think we are about to find out in a big way. Or a small way, I don’t judge.
DC Universe: Rebirth #1 (DC)
Geoff Johns (W) Gary Frank/Ethan Van Sciver/Ivan Reis/Phil Jimenez (A)
Hold on to your fucking pants. I’ve heard (by accident) all sorts of rumors about this comic. If what I hear is even partially true, the DCU is about to get shaken to the core. People may get pissed off, but I doubt that. People always get pissed off. Why do they do that? It seems so pointless.
Peter Graymane had just been endowed with a gift from benevolent Gods who watched with curiosity boiling beneath their smiles. Now able to control time, he blinked to the moment of his demise. Not by choice, not his own choice at least. He blinked back to the present, or the past-present, where he lay motionless. Each time he slipped through space and time, a quick flash emitted from every pore of his being. Utilizing his abilities, he traveled to every moment and place he had ever dreamed of traveling. Even, eventually allowing the perverse nature of human curiosity to coerce him into traveling to the darker bits of the universe. Once he felt he had seen all he needed. He returned to his body once more, a final resting place. In the arms of his love, the moment after his gift was bestowed. In one final loving glance, he attempted to express his impossible love. He could only do so little to show this woman that all of time, all of the universe at his fingertips, and the only thing he truly he wanted were these fleeting moments beside this only opposite. He whispered his final words, “You, more than anything. You.” before drifting into a coma that would ultimately undo him.
