This was one of those nights Lizzy knew she wouldn’t be able to sleep. She did that thing where she thought too hard about falling asleep and now she was in the familiar cycle of waking sleep. This stress dream kept waking her up in a panic. Each time she fell asleep, she would dream there was a woman in the corner of her ceiling, arms spread out against the wall, just staring at her.
Plastic Man #1 (of 6) (DC)
Gail Simone (W) Adriana Melo (A)
I am super excited for a Plastic Man series. A little bummed this is only a mini, but not really too bummed, I mean you know how I feel about minis.
Thor #1 (Marvel)
Jason Aaron (W) Michael Del Mundo (A)
Holy shit, I am pumped for this series. I’ve loved Aaron’s run on Thor, but something about Odinson getting his hammer…a…hammer, back, rings of finality. Lets watch together.
Dry County #4 (Image)
Rich Tommaso (W/A)
The premier listless Joe Schmo detective comic is out yet again with a hot take on Miami in the 90’s. Chickity check it out sports fans!
Exiles #4 (Marvel)
Saladin Ahmed (W) Javier Rodriguez (A)
Boopin about in infinity has never been this fun! Meet all new heroes as they fight for the lives of the trillions of lives in their universe. Most of them lose, for now! Just think about those numbers!
Eternity Girl #4 (of 6) (Vertigo)
Magdalene Visaggio (W) Sonny Liew (A)
This book is about something else entirely. It’s about rejection, neglect, depression, anxiety. It’s about all of those things and about a girl who just wants to exist without pain. How does she accomplish that without losing it all? How do any of us?
Sideways #5 (DC)
Justin Jordan (W) Robert Gill (A)
So uh, weird shit is gonna happen in this issue? I mean, based on solicitations, the next few issues are going to rip my heart out in a psychedelic sorta way. Like maybe a portal to that weird “Yellow Submarine” dimension is gonna open up in my aortic valve. Yeah, that’s a fun picture.
The Punisher #226 (Marvel)
Matthew Rosenberg (W) Stefano Landini (A)
“What are you gonna do? Kill Hydra?” They asked Frank Castle, as if there where any other option.
Analog #3 (Image)
Gerry Duggan (W) David O’Sullivan (A)
Yeah, fuck the government, man!
Wonder Woman #48 (DC)
James Robinson (W) Jesus Merino (A)
Fun little sidebar with the annual last week, but now we’re back on track with some funky fresh jams. Diana basically wished some angry Gods into the universe when she broke the source wall with her magical metal armor made from hope and friendship. Okay, part of that wasn’t true. You figure it out.
Old Man Logan #41 (Marvel)
Ed Brisson (W) Dalibor Talajic (A)
Fuuuuck. I love me some Kraven. Even as a kid he was one of my favorites. Excited to see what these guys do with him.
Venom #2 (Marvel)
Donny Cates (W) Ryan Stegman (A)
“I don’t want to sound too cocky but this venom comic we are making is way better than Watchmen” – Ryan Stegman April 9th 2018. He’s not wrong.
Babyteeth #11 (Aftershock)
Donny Cates (W) Garry Brown (A)
It’s back. Satan, cults, and angry dads.
The Season of the Snake #3 (of 3) (Titan Books)
Serge Lehman (W) Jean-Marie Michaud (A)
This book is nutso. Like in a good way. In a way that makes me feel warm inside. Like a cup of hot cocoa.
A Walk Through Hell #2 (Aftershock)
Garth Ennis (W) Goran Sudzuka (A)
Holy shit the first issue of this one was nuts. I can’t wait to see what the hell is going on in this one.
Oblivion Song #4 (Image)
Robert Kirkman (W) Lorenzo De Felici (A)
This book is quickly becoming about one man’s quest to right a wrong via suicide. Somehow way sadder.
Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #305 (Marvel)
Chip Zdarsky (W) Joe Quinones (A)
Dammit, Parker! You know time travel never ends well!
Marvel 2-In-One Annual #1 (Marvel)
Chip Zdarsky (W) Declan Shalvey (A)
Super excited for Shalvey on this annual. Honestly, they better make another fucking Doom book, or I’ll do something mean. Like yell. Or something.
The Fix #12 (Image)
Nick Spencer (W) Steve Lieber (A)
I wish these guys would just pause for a second and get their shit together for a normal release schedule. I mean I can’t complain, because this book is great, but damn. The arc started May of last year.
Copperhead #19 (Image)
Jay Faerber/Scott Godlewski (W) Ron Riley (A)
One of them creators is back. That’s cool and sad. Seeing as it’s probably because the book is ending in four issues. Aw.
Mister Miracle #9 (of 12) (DC)
Tom King (W) Mitch Gerads (A)
Bad things are gonna happen. I just know it.
After a night of tossing and turning, Liz had fallen asleep by sheer power of will. Maybe only for a few hours, but dammit, she had won. The morning light broke through her blinds and as she reached for her phone, her heart stopped. Her entire body froze in panic as she looked at the wall. The woman was still there.
