The wind kicked up red dust, whipping it into a frenzy, pulling it into the heavens before letting it fall to the dead earth. The town looked empty from a distance. As Timothy got closed he could see the sun dried, dirt caked faces of old men sitting on the porch of some of the houses. The whole town held it’s breath for something. Each member waiting in isolation among a dozen others. A Mirage set on the horizon, almost taunting the crumbling town. Where they had tumble weeds and wooden shacks, those that lived in the mirage had foliage, shining metals, fauna, smiles. No one even considered the fairness of it all.

Man, I am really fucking bummed after the last issue. This series may wrap up with the most bitter-sweet arc of the whole series. I should have fucking known.
Tim walked into the eatery, drawing some vicious glances from the patrons. He was a traitor in their minds. A prisoner who had sold his soul to the Mirage in exchange for some coin to buy a decent dinner and maybe a few drinks. His clothes were hardly even worn in comparison. He was a fresh wound, bleeding on the scars. The barkeep brought him an aged booze, fermented somewhere local. He thought of his mother and fingered the change in his shirt pocket.
