Holy crap you guys, this week is absolutely mind blowing. I cannot get express enough just how excited I am for the cacophony of brilliant comics coming out this week. I can’t control myself. Here, tie my hands behind my back, make sure the knot is tight. I’m going to throw myself from this bridge, landing in the frigid waters of Top of the Stack, only to make my daring escape.

batman eternal 47

Batman Eternal #47 (DC)

Tim Seeley (W) Juan Ferreyra (A)

This one, despite having a solid issue last week is forced into being the top of the stack this week. Not so much because it was lack luster, but because I’m tired of the damn charade. I understand that building this mystery up is important but how many false positives can someone get before they begin to think that the doctors don’t know what they are doing. This isn’t House.

colder-5c2e6

Colder: Bad Seed #5 (Dark Horse)

Paul Tobin (W) Juan Ferreyra (A)

I am really enjoying this series, my only issue is that I feel Tobin is having trouble pacing his story. I still don’t feel as if we’ve made any progress against our foe and the insanity that is the story structure doesn’t help things. While I love that about the story, I also dig closure.

superior iron man 5

Superior Iron Man #5 (Marvel)

Tom Taylor (W) Yildiray Cinar (A)

Sadly, I think that this story is getting a little tired for me. The reason it isn’t at the top is because I’m giving a little more credit than I would normally give a comic in this position. That’s because it really impressed me with a majority of the first arc, mostly due to Daredevil’s part in the story. It is only in the last issue that I really feel it lost momentum, hopefully this next issue picks back up.

amazing spider-man 15

Amazing Spider-Man #15 (Marvel)

Dan Slott (W) Giuseppe Camuncoli (A)

I am a tad upset at this comic. While I love Spider-Verse, I feel that the conclusion left me a little…wanting. I mean they essentially wrapped everything up in a nice little bow in only a single issue. The means to which they eliminated the “bad guys” was even a little cheap. I don’t know, it felt as if everything just magically fell into place. This issue is the epilogue, so maybe we’ll get some insight into that.

spiderman-2099 9

Spider-Man 2099 #9 (Marvel)

Peter David (W) Will Sliney (A)

So this is the first non-tie-in issue in which our favorite futuristic spider-man is back in his own time, and it seems some things have changed for the worst. Very excited for this, and I hope we manage to hold onto Lady Spider, she was my favorite character from the tie-ins.

deadpool 42

Deadpool #42 (Marvel)

Gerry Duggan (W) Salva Espin (A)

Coming to a close, this series is looking into the age old problem Wade has. Depression and self loathing. After being turned zen during Axis, he is having an existential crisis, maybe the nega-him was the better of the two. Don’t worry Deadpool, we all love you.

0001-22f40

Life After #7 (Oni Press)

Joshua Hale Fialkov (W) Gabo (A)

This series is a real gut twister. The last issue was amazing, and revealed some essential plot details along with some major character development for our depressed bride. Also it included a fallen god rabbit thing, which is, you know, pretty cool.

spider-gwen 1

Spider-Gwen #1 (Marvel)

Jason Latour (W) Javier Rodriguez (A)

Like most of the interwebz, I am very excited for this series. It’s an awesome character that really shakes up the Spider-Man universe. The one-shot with her was excellently written and I’m happy to see Latour back on script duties for the ongoing. Mixed with Rodriguez’s sharp whimsical artwork, I can see this series yielding something strong.

agents of shield 3

S.H.I.E.L.D #3 (Marvel)

Mark Waid (W) Alan Davis (A)

I am thoroughly impressed with this series. It’s fun and quick, taking aim at the more street level events in the Marvel universe. If you are a fan of Ms.Marvel or Daredevil, this series is right up your alley.

fantastic four 643

Fantastic Four #643 (Marvel)

James Robinson (W) Leonard Kirk (A)

With some, lets say, strange motives for our villain in this arc, I am definitely interested in the downfall of the Fantastic Four. He seems to have out smarted Reed, and now holds his life in the palm of his hands. Things are looking bleak for the family.

uncanny avengers 2

Uncanny Avengers #2 (Marvel)

Rick Remender (W) Daniel Acuña (A)

A really cool first issue set this series up for great things. Aiming at the Counter-evolutionaries, it seems the Uncanny Avengers are in for some intense fisticuffs. That along with the tease at some more insight into Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver’s past make this one a little more than a tickled fancy.

secret avengers 13

Secret Avengers #13 (Marvel)

Ales Kot (W) Michael Walsh (A)

Here’s a joke, M.O.D.O.K, two Fury’s, Hawkeye and Coulson walk into a bar, the bar is actually in an alternate reality. Everything is going to die.

inhuman 12

Inhuman #12 (Marvel)

Charles Soule (W) Ryan Stegman (A)

Don’t you hate it when mom and dad fight. Well, we get a full issue of it. Maybe not full. Either way Black Bolt and Medusa are at each others throats, or hair respectively.

STK663726

They’re Not Like Us #3 (Image)

Eric Stephenson (W) Simon Gane (A)

This series is like if you crossed X-Men with a bunch of angsty teens, no wait, a bunch of mildly sociopathic teens, no wait. Actually this is a lot like X-men, you know, without anyone to guide their moral ambiguity in the direction of good.

men of wrath 5

Men of Wrath #5 of 5 (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) Ron Garney (A)

I am really sad to see this one go. I with Marvel would put out stuff this dark all the time. This series is very very dark and deals with the evils in ones past. Can we really out run fate or is it just lying in wait?

Rasputin_05-1

Rasputin #5 (Image)

Alex Grecian (W) Riley Rossmo (A)

This series has been wonderful, truly a visual feast. This issue teases something that, naturally, comes at the end of the day. The death of Rasputin, but this is only the beginning of the story I feel.

daredevil 13

Daredevil #13 (Marvel)

Mark Waid (W) Chris Samnee (A)

The final arc begins in these pages and again I am sad, seriously why are all the things I like ending. Why do you do this to me? A villain teased a while back when we flashed forward five years is coming back into play, things are going to get hard for the devil.

ODY-C_03-1

Ody-C #3 (Image)

Matt Fraction (W) Christian Ward (A)

I have officially been taken by this series. It is extravagant, brilliant, blindingly beautiful, and strong. Being that The Odyssey is one of my favorite stories of all time, I expected nothing less coming from Fraction, but this has taken my expectations and tossed them out the window. Truly a masterpiece.

low_06

Low #6 (Image)

Rick Remender (W) Greg Tocchini (A)

It’s back after a tiny little hiatus there. Back to finish the first arc and I am amazed. You will fall in love with the main character and her ambitiousness, just to watch her world crumble around her. It’s a vicious cycle and I can’t get enough.

432

Batman #39 (DC)

Scott Snyder (W) Greg Capullo (A)

So, the Joker’s back with a vengeance. New facts previously thought impossible of any one mortal have now been “revealed” about the Joker. Gotham is dying, the Joker is done playing around. Batman is forming an alliance he will live to regret. All is doomed.

new avengers 30

New Avengers #30 (Marvel)

Jonathan Hickman (W) Kev Walker (A)

The last issue like many issues before, left my jaw slacked and my mind racing. Insane new things were brought into play and I can only begin to fathom how it will play into this next issue. Hickman has me clutching the dashboard as he drives us headfirst into the icy depths of the home of the dying and the lost.

There you go! You can see why I’m excited can’t you? If you can’t, then you aren’t reading the right things, I’m sorry.
