So this week is extremely light. Why you ask? I have no idea. With DC doing this whole Convergance stuff, I’m staying away from it. I already have a lot on my plate with Secret Wars. I’d like enough money to eat. I was listening to this guy tell me something about Top of The Stack, what do you think? I think he’s full of shit.
Letter 44 #15 (Oni Press)
Charles Soule (W) Alberto Alburquerque (A)
With the little that comes out this week for me, this series has to be at the bottom of the list. This is unfortunate, because this series is really solid. It has really good arcs and fantastic moments, but with that comes filler. This series can also feel as if it is stretching things out to fill space. I still recommend it though.
Ms. Marvel #14 (Marvel)
G. Willow Wilson (W) Takeshi Miyagawa (A)
Very fun series, unfortunately I feel that in the face of the series ending for Secret Wars, they’ve pulled in some of the story’s tendrils. I expect to see a lot of character resolution in the next few issues. Excellent series, I hope it makes it through to the other side of Battleword.
D4ve #3 of 5 (IDW)
Ryan Ferrier (W) Valentin Ramon (A)
This series is hysterical. It traverses ludicrous humor and subtle humor with a strange grace that entices me to continue reading. I am very happy that I stumbled across this gem of a comic.
Thor #7 (Marvel)
Jason Aaron (W) Russell Dauterman (A)
I NEED TO KNOW WHO SHE IS. Dammit, if they don’t give me a clue before Secret Wars, I’m going to break something expensive. Seriously though, this series is fun. I know a lot of people are upset at this comic, but they need to stop and just read it.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina #2 (Afterlife with Archie)
Roberto Aguirre Sacasa (W) Robert Hack (A)
Okay, I don’t know what the deal is with the two series coming out of the new press “Afterlife with Archie”, but I am a little confused about their release time frame. The last issue came out six freaking months ago. And it’s been even longer for the namesake of the press. I really love these series, but come on, that’s a bit ridiculous.
Bloodshot Reborn #1 (Valiant)
Jeff Lemire (W) Mico Suayan (A)
Super excited for this series. Spinning out of The Valiant, we have a new Bloodshot that isn’t Bloodshot anymore. Interesting, no? I love me some Lemire and his take on Bloodshot has been awesome so far, very excited to see this in a solo series. Time to get pumped up for the Valiant Cinematic Universe!
Chrononauts #2 (Image)
Mark Millar (W) Sean Murphy (A)
From a fantastic duo, comes an incredible second issue. When they said bromance through time, they weren’t kidding. This story was quick, witty and fast paced. I am more that intrigued to see where this story goes.
The Fade Out #5 (Image)
Ed Brubaker (W) Sean Phillips (A)
Ah, who doesn’t love Hollywood? The glits, the glamour, the murders. Nothing more fun on a saturday night than scrubbing away the filth of a guilty conscience. This series is dark, and full of personal meditation. I absolutely love this series, it just doesn’t come out enough.
That’s really it. A solid thirty minutes of reading this week. I guess that gives me time to catch up on all the shows I’m missing. And by that I mean re-watch Daredevil.
