No story time this week, children. I hope you all enjoyed Free Comic Book Day this year. I had tons of fun, myself. Nothing like the community getting together to share the things we love. If only there were more days like this. I guess I’ll have to settle for opening days at the theater. I’m glad it’s a small week, I don’t know if I could handle a big one after the frivolous spending that occurs every FCBD.
All-New All-Different Avengers #9 (Marvel)
Mark Waid (W) Adam Kubert (A)
So we got a new Giant-Man a while back in Astonishing Ant-Man and now we are getting a new wasp. I dig that Marvel is introducing all new, well, new people in established characters’ roles. I am curious to see if it’s a name we already know.
Constantine: The Hellblazer #12 (DC)
Ming Doyle (W) Travel Foreman (A)
So can we talk about the fact that Travel Foreman is going to be doing the art for this issue. I love Foreman’s work. I think his style will be a really cool departure from Rossmo’s art.
Jupiter’s Circle Vol. 2 #6 of 6 (Image)
Mark Millar (W) Wilfredo Torres (A)
The final issue in the second volume of a spinoff series. This was an incredible series, with Millar returning to Jupiter’s Legacy later this year, I am thrilled to see what this little pocket universe becomes.
Charles Soule (W) Brandon Peterson (A)
It sounds like this comic is going to get heated. HAHAHA GET IT? BECAUSE THE HUMAN TORCH. SOMEONE HELP ME! Really though, I need help.
Nick Spencer (W) Steve Lieber (A)
I really, really enjoyed the first issue of this comic. I know I say that a lot, but really, if I don’t like the first issue, you guys never hear about it again. So going forward, no more “I really liked the first issue” I mean, clearly I did. Jeez you guys.
Jason Aaron (W) Jason Latour (A)
Holy bananas. Since the fifth issue, we have been waiting for this moment. Well, I have, I don’t know about you. I don’t presume to know either, so poor choice of words admittedly. Whatever, Earl Tubb’s little Marine Corps girl is coming home. There will be hell to pay.
Ta-Nehisi Coates (W) Brian Stelfreeze (A)
THIS SERIES IS AMAZING. Holy crap. I mean when was the last time my top two of the week were superhero comics? Good luck finding this issue though, the first printing sold like hotcakes. Don’t worry I can only imagine the second printing will come soon for you unlucky few who missed it.
James T Tynion IV (W) Rafael Albuquerque (A)
Oh, man. It’s over, well, it will be when you read this. This series has almost single-handedly reinvented Batman for a new generation. Snyder and Capullo have done so much for the mythos and the lore behind this character. I truly think this run will go down along with Frank Miller, Neal Adams, Jeph Loeb, Bruce Timm, Dennis O’Neil and others in the halls of Batman history.
