Toy Fair 2019 has come and gone and we are left in the wake of the many collectibles that we want but can’t afford. I have gathered my top 5 announcements from the show and what I am willing to dish out my hard earned cash for. Look forward to our special episode of Towelite Talk where Casey and I will discuss his trip to the show and all the magic that ensued. For now here are my highlights!
It really doesn’t stop when it comes to Mezco AND my collection continues into 2019. Announced at the big show were 5 figures that I won’t be able to stop my finger from clicking preorder. I am very happy that we will be seeing more non-movie Justice League figures and that Mezco has come to their senses. Glad I passed on the movie Wonder Woman because this version is what I’ve been waiting for and the figure that I will take my first chance on with the female body type. Of course with Harley Quinn most of her costume covers up the exposed joints so picking up her classic look is a no-brainer. Two Batman figures (at least) are coming this year including the recently announced Batman ’89 and the final figure in Mezco’s trilogy, the Supreme Knight. We only got a sneak peek at this and Aquaman thanks to their new catalog so look forward to more reveals on those two as they come!
I have been collecting John Carpenter themed figures for a long time now. I have dedicated my collection to the 8″ clothed figures by NECA because they have been consistent in what they offer and I have been very happy with both the Snake and Blake figures, that rhymes doesn’t it? So when Mezco also announced that they were making a They Live alien figure I had to make a choice and it wasn’t hard. Check out the upcoming Alien two-pack below and keep your fingers crossed that we get a Nada figure as well!
DC Collectibles is trying some new things in 2019 and we can’t blame them! We are super excited to get our collective hands on their nine inch Prime Batman figure. Seems like more companies are trying the premium figure route and us collectors will only benefit. Gone are the days where we have to settle for a piece of plastic that costs us twenty buck yet it’s worth five.
Quantum Mechanix‘s Q-Fig line has been one of my favorite things since POP! figures ran their course. This time around the company is doing something a little different by mashing their smaller line with a larger statue and the result is this really amazing Batman Family piece. The Q-Master Diorama will run you about two hundred bucks and is available for preorder now!
Finally today, we knew it was coming but we didn’t know when. Now we do! Super 7 has been banging out the Masters of the Universe collectibles and they also had quite a show with new reveals and whatnot. What I’ve really been wanting to know is how long do I have to save up for Snake Mountain and how much? We got one answer, the preorder will start in May but we still don’t have a price. With that being said I am sure that those details will emerge soon and I am wondering if they will treat this like Mattel did with Grayskull. There was a production goal and if it wasn’t met then there was no playset. Let’s hope that this is not the case for Snake Mountain, the least we can get is an amazing payment plan option! Nothing physical outside of this cardboard thing was at the show to check out so let’s keep our fingers crossed that things work in our favor!
