Hello all, and welcome to an exciting week of releases.
First and foremost, we have the much anticipated… hold on one sec…

…sorry about that; just stepped away to go to Best Buy and buy it myself… Pacific Rim. From the great director Guillermo Del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth), and starring Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba, this movie might seem childish from it’s previews, but critics all agree that it is a true homage to the Giant Monster movies most of us grew up on. I cant actually say for myself, as I have yet to see it, but I was upset I missed it on IMAX, and super stoked to watch it on my awesome 3D. That’s right folks… it comes out on all versions; DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and even a Collector’s Edition which includes one of the giant robot figurines!
Next in line is The Heat, starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. This film received decent reviews and supposedly one of the most rented hotel movie in September. Umm… that’s all I have to say on that one.
Television brings us season 5 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and also releases a Season 1-5 complete set of the show as well. We also get season 1 of Vikings (never heard of it). But the real highlight of the week is the SYFY Channel’s Defiance Season 1 hitting Blu-ray. This show is a refreshing return to the sci-fi genre and it even ties into a video game! A new concept for a new Earth with new rules. Check out CynicNerd’s recap of the NYCC panel here.
Oldies get released on blu-ray, including Weird Science (remember that one?) and one of my all time favorite horror flicks, John Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness (starring Sam Neill).
