Despite the randomness, we actually have a handful of releases on blu-ray this week. Lets start off with the second film in the Divergent series, Insurgent. I didn’t think much of the first one, but then again, I’m just not into these “young adult” books. I will say the production was decent, and compared to something like Twilight, its definitely better (though it would be hard to find something worse than that, so that doesn’t say much). This isn’t no Hunger Games, but if you’re into these type of stories and you liked the first one I’m sure this will be great.
True Story also comes out this week, though for most of you, this one slipped under the radar. Starring Jonah Hill and James Franco, this received decent reviews and it looks like it would be interesting to see this team work together on a non-comedic story.
On the comedy side though, we get Hot Pursuit starring Witherspoon and Vergara. Unfortunately, the reviews were a little less than good, so I’m not sure how many laughs you’ll get out of this one.
Tom Hardy, Noomi Repace and Gary Oldman come out with Child 44. This recieved decent reviews, but nothing stellar, considering the great cast. Trailer didn’t seem to pull me in that much, but I’m sure for it’s genre it is worth the watch.
We get a bunch of random and old releases for blu-ray this week as well, including Jackie Chan in Police Story: Lockdown, Free Willy, Mr & Mrs Smith, the classic Innerspace, and a documentary on the great Chris Farley titled I Am Chris Farley.
Good to have a bigger selection of movies this week, so I hope you find something you’re interested in. Tune in next week to see what’s coming out.
