In the surprise to no one whose been watching the X-Menfranchise over the past 19 years,Dark Phoenixhas managed to come in below Box Office expectations and debut in 2nd place with $33 million. The film looked like a shitty copy of X3 and seems that audiences all concurred by not showing up and not caring about the end of this franchise. It’s a shame to be quite honest, but when Matthew Vaughngave us First Classand then it was followed up by Days of Future Past; it seemed like we were on the right path. Then, in typical Fox fashion, they bungled up the timeline, gave us Apocalypse, and rushed the Phoenix Saga. Grrr.
In good news, The Secret Life of Pets 2was able to debut with $47 and the #1 position. Great news for the animated classic and it undoubtedly means we’ll be getting another sequel. Go Kids Movies! The rest of the Top Ten is below!
