While Disney did continue to dominate at the Box Office this weekend with The Lion King bringing in another $75 million, it was Once Upon a Time in Hollywood that garnered the most praise and surprise. The film debuted in 2nd place with $40 million and is now the biggest opening weekend for a Quentin Tarantino film ever. You do have to think that with Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio though, it really can’t be all that big of a surprise. Not only that, Margo Robbie, continues to shine in every role that she’s in.
As I mentioned earlier, The Lion King was #1 and continues to dominate here and overseas with it’s Worldwide total now over $962 million. It certainly won’t take that long to reach $1 Billion and just continue the Disney Domination that’s been happening all year. The rest of the Top Ten fared pretty much the same as last week with Spider-Man: Far From Home, Toy Story 4, and Crawl all rounding out the Top 5. The rest of the Top Ten can be seen below.
1. The Lion King $75,524,000
2. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood $40,350,000
3. Spider-Man: Far From Home $12,200,000
4. Toy Story 4 $9,872,000
5. Crawl $4,000,000
6. Yesterday $3,000,000
7. Aladdin $2,788,000
8. Stuber $1,679,000
9. Annabelle Comes Home $1,560,000
10. The Farewell $1,553,864
Next weekend, the Fast & Furious franchise opens it’s first spinoff film with Hobbes & Shaw. The movie looks to be a heck of a lot of fun and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s able to turn The Lion King into a Prince. Find out if I’m right on the next edition of Weekend Roundup!
